Zonta ZB16 bayan accordion

64 note / 120 bass – Free bass converter

If you are looking for that authentic Russian bayan sound without having to negotiate the Russian paperwork needed for a trip to Tula, Moscow or Veronezh, then this Zonta ZB16 bayan may well be worth a look.

Made in Belarus by skilled Belarusian master craftsmen, this Zonta bayan is built to pretty much the same design as the Russian Jupiter bayans but without the price tag. It has a very similar sound and the Russian bayan style reeds in the left hand side give this accordion the typical deep, rich “growly” bass sound you might expect from any Russian bayan. The right hand side of the accordion can be ordered with your choice of Italian style reeds mounted on individual reed plates or hand made Russian stlye “bayan reeds” with many reed tongues mounted on a single long reed plate. The Russian bayan style reeds are made in house by experienced Belarusian masters.

This is a full size 64 note concert specification bayan with 120 bass/58 note free bass converter and is particularly well suited to playing the Russian classical and folk music written for this type of instrument. As such it would be suitable for university or conservatoire students, professional accordionsts and not forgetting amateur players. It is available in either B or C system layout and has many possible customisations including the following :-

  • Choice of colour for buttons as well as the body of the accordion/bayan
  • Choice of Russian or Italian style reeds for the right hand keyboard
  • Optional stepped keyboard making it easier to use the thumb in the left hand
  • Choice of button key spring strength and button travel depth
  • Optional “sordini” for the left hand

At a considerably lower price than an equivalent model from Russia or Italy, the Zonta ZB16 chromatic bayan accordion probably offers the best value for money for any instrument of this type.
